JET DECK
1960-1971
Jet Deck was a champion race horse and champion sire.  He was the product of one of the most successful crosses in Quarter racing history, his offspring include such horses as Easy Jet, Jet Deck Junior and Mr. Jet Moore.

Jet Deck was foaled April 19, 1960 in Clovis, California.

The 15.3 hand bay colt was purchased by trainer Wilbur Stuchal for J.B. Chambers of Colorado. In a two-season career with jockey Charlie Smith up, Jet Deck started 31 times winning 22 firsts, four seconds and two thirds. He was the 1962 and 1963 Champion Quarter Running 2- and 3- Year- Old Colt, earned his Register of Merit Racing, earned 5 Halter Points and was the 1963 World Champion Quarter Running Horse.

His greatest contribution to the breed was as a sire. In eight foal crops, Jet Deck sired the all-time race money earner Easy Jet, as well as progeny that earned more than $6,804,289 in purses, 5 AQHA Champions, 1 Supreme Champion (Jet Threat) and 383 Race Registers of Merit.

In 1971, at the peak of his stud career, Jet Deck was found dead in his pasture from a lethal injection of barbiturates to the jugular vein. Despite a thorough investigation, his killer(s) have never been found.

Even today, the Quarter Horse industry mourns his loss

Jet Deck was poisoned in the prime of his career at the age of 11. Before he was murdered in 1971, the stallion had sired 580 horses; 215 AAA runners, 22 AAAT runners, 386 winners and earners of $6,804,178.  Brief, but brilliant career as a runner; brief but lasting career as a sire -- and one of the greatest losses in the history of Quarter Horses.
